The family's son noticed flames around 6:15 a.m. and alerted everyone in the house to get out. Six people and the family's pets were able to escape.

The flames were so high and large, they were hard to miss.

“I got a phone call from a friend who works for the fire department. I ignored it, I didn't know why he was calling. I looked over out the window, and my window faces that way and I saw all of the smoke and flames and jumped out of bed," said neighbor Kyle Lee.

“We had the police knocking on our door telling us to evacuate so we all just went out to the backyard," Lee said.

Sky 5 was getting aerials of another fire in South Nashville when the crew noticed smoke in the distance.

When Sky 5 got to the scene, the house was fully engulfed in flames. The fire was so intense that it melted the siding on neighboring homes.

The cause of the fire was not known.
